Barbara’s pastor, Robert Cruthird, wrote this about her: “Nana, as she was called to those that knew her and loved her, had the kindest heart. All of us who knew her benefited from all her wisdom and love that she freely shared with everyone. She was one of the first people to reach out to me after my wife died because she truly loved my wife and my family. From time to time, she reached out to me to see if I was okay or if she could help me in any way. Nana hard a heart of gold and we are all better because she shared a piece of that golden heart with everyone.

“Nana struggled breathing for a while now. She needed oxygen to assist her about the last year of her life. About a month ago, she started making 6 am calls to me. We would pray together for her and her family. She talked to me about her plans for her service and she talked to me about God. She wasn’t afraid of this day coming, but she was concerned about her family. We prayed while I was on my way to work, and we’d pray later when I was on my way back home.

“Nana, I will miss our praying time together, I will miss seeing you at church, and I will miss you around in our community. You were a bright light in our community, our church, and your family. We will all miss you.”

The family kindly requests that those in attendance at the service please wear face masks.
