Terris Lewis

Terris Lewis, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. Terris was born on May 30, 1932 to George and Cleo Lewis in Grand Saline, Texas. Terris would serve his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army as an MP during the Korean Conflict. He would meet and later marry Sharron Hawkins in Dallas, Texas in 1957.

Terris worked for thirty years as an ironworker for Beck Construction and John F. Beasley Construction, retiring in 1987. He had many interests in life. He loved to travel anddeep sea fishing; visiting old friends at the Dairy Queenand making new ones. He was a farmer and a rancher. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed his garden in the Spring. Terris was an avid Cowboys fan and loved to watch the Rangers. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Terris enjoyed being with his son, grandchildren; brothers and sisters. His quick wit, loving heart and infectious smile will be missed by all who knew him.

Terris is preceded in death by his parents, George and Cleo Lewis; his beloved wife, Sharron; his brothers, Radford Lewis, Randolph Lewis,R.P. Lewis , Marvin Lewis, Gerald Lewis, Gordon Lewis and his twin brother Ferris Lewis; sisters, Vanetta Parks and Laverne Terry.

Those left to celebrate his life include his son, Edward Lewis and his wife Wendy; grandchildren, Johnathan Lewis, Amber Humphrey and her husband Red , Caroline Lewis; his special friend Deanie Campbell; sister Mary Agnes Stack; as well numerous nieces and nephews; extended family, friends and neighbors.

The family would like to thank the caring nurses at the Kindred Hospital in Dallas for their kindenesses and care of Terris.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service with military honors will be held the following day, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment at Lakeside Memorial Park will immediately follow the service.
