Shirley Brundidge, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, in Quinlan, Texas.
Born on May 5, 1939, in Fort Payne, Alabama, Shirley’s life was a testament to unwavering faith and steadfast love. Her journey led her to a life filled with purpose, grace, and humility, where she embraced her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, minister, and friend.
Shirley was a beloved member of The Word Church in Caddo Mills, Texas. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life—guiding her actions and shaping her relationships. Whether through prayer, teaching, or acts of service, Shirley touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and deep devotion. Her ministry extended beyond the pulpit into every interaction she had; she lived her faith daily with strength and compassion.
As a wife to Wayne Brundidge, Shirley exemplified partnership rooted in love and mutual respect. As a mother to Barbara Chambers, grandmother to Emerald Baldwin, Scarlett Villegas, and Amethyst Hamby—and great-grandmother to Crimson Edwards—Shirley was affectionately known as “Nanny.” She led her family with patience and wisdom, offering comfort in times of need and celebrating their joys as her own.
Her home was a sanctuary of warmth where laughter echoed through generations. Nanny’s presence brought peace; her words offered guidance; her prayers provided strength. She nurtured not only the spiritual growth of those around her but also their hearts—instilling values that will endure for generations.
We lovingly remember Shirley for the legacy she leaves behind: one of enduring faith, unconditional love, and selfless service. Though our hearts are heavy with grief at her passing, we find solace in the promise of Scripture: “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:23). We rejoice knowing that Shirley has been called home and now rests in eternal peace in the presence of her Savior.
May Shirley’s life continue to inspire us all to walk in faith and love as she so beautifully did. A Funeral Service will be held on December 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Quinlan Funeral Home. Followed by Committal Service at Van Sickle Cemetery and reception to follow at Quinlan First Assembly of God.
