Russell Stroud, a devoted father, proud papaw, and longtime resident of Quinlan, Texas, passed away on December 31, 2025, at the age of 48.
He is lovingly survived by his sons, James Rusheon, Dylan Stroud, and Chris Bates; his grandsons, Colby, Cason, and Connor Rusheon; his brothers, Donald Bowles, Donnie Bowles, and Tony Bowles; his sisters, Michelle Masri and husband Maher, and Connie Cruez; his nephew, Majed Masri; his nieces, Mariam Masri and Xanith Jeffery; his great-nephews, Eric and Ezra Jeffery; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished him.
Russell was born on January 3, 1977, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Doris Bowles and Eugene Stroud. Throughout his career, he earned multiple professional certifications and spent many dedicated years as a Project Specialist with Convergint Technologies, where his work ethic and reliability were widely respected.
He married Susan Stroud in Royse City, Texas, and together they welcomed their sons, James and Dylan, into the world.
Russell was a man defined by loyalty, generosity, and quiet strength. He cared deeply for his family and friends, always putting their needs before his own. He found joy in simple pleasures—hard work, a long motorcycle ride, and ending the day with a cold Coors Light or a glass of whiskey. He taught his sons the value of honesty and perseverance, lessons he lived by every day.
Russell never met a stranger, and his circle of friends was wide. Yet among them, David Kirk and Jerrad held a special place as brothers in spirit. He loved cheering on the Dallas Stars, and he was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers—often reminding his loved ones, with a grin, that “his Rangers needed to get their act together.”
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at Quinlan Funeral Home, with Pastor Keith Cogburn officiating.
