Melvin Cotten

Melvin Emmett Cotten, 80, of Quinlan, passed away on April 7, 2015 in Greenville, Texas. Melvin was born on March 21, 1935 to Robert and Evia Cotten in Hunt County Texas. Melvin worked as a mechanical repair and maintenance engineer at Miller Brewery for over twenty years. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evia Cotten; brothers, Paul, Olvis, Hal and Lawrence Cotten; sister, Zelma Patterson and wife Ruth Cotten. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, David Cotten; daughter, Melba Horton and her husband William and their mother Jonell Willingham; grandchildren, Jennifer Thomas and her husband Jason, Jaclyn Atkins and Rosalind Horton; great-grandchildren, Brittany Perkins, Kaitlyn Lusk, Isabella Thomas, Olivia Hodges and Jack Masson; brothers Arlie Cotten and Alvin Cotten; sister Thelma Wilder; as well as extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. The interment will immediately follow the service at IOOF Cemetery.
