Melba Faye Looney

Melba Faye Looney of Blue Ridge, Texas passed away August 31, 2025 at the age of 88. She was born to Charlie and Celma Ewing on August 4, 1937 in Rodessa, Louisiana.

Melba married Robert Looney on July 3rd, 1956 in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was an Eastern Star and a member of Altoga Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas. She adored her church family and cherished them dearly.

Melba is survived by her brothers, James and Pat Ewing, and Tommy and Sue Ewing as well as a sister, Linda Reeves. She gave birth to five children: Carolyn and husband Ramsey Gidney, Bobbie and husband Randell Moody, Charles Looney and Dena, Melinda Miller and Jeff, and Mary Jo and husband Archie Bean. God blessed her with 16 grandchildren: John, Jennifer, Carolyn, Mandy, Sarah, Charlie, Travis, Justin, Randall, Annie, Kenneth, Jamie, Tracy, Crystal, Annie, and Alex. Her legacy continues with 38 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She had numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends she considered family that meant the world to her. She loved everybody a little bit more than a lot.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Celma Ewing and loving husband Robert Looney as well as her daughter Mary Jo and husband Archie Bean and grandson Kenneth Miller, sisters Fannie May Walton, Evelyn Marie Ewing, Debbie Ann Anders and brother Charles Lee Ewing, and son-in-law James Miller.

Among many things she loved Coco, her loving dog, black walnut ice cream, and diet coke. She enjoyed spending time at family get-togethers, getting power hugs, going to bingo, and playing Skip-Bo. While raising 5 kids, Melba and Robert enjoyed time at the lake camping so much that they worked for the Corps of Engineers for many years as gate attendants at various parks around Texas and Arkansas.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Altoga Baptist Church at 6594 FM 1827 McKinney, Texas 75071.
