Judith Ann Belcher

Due to inclement weather conditions that have damaged Quinlan Chapel, we have moved the services for Mrs. Belcher to Peters Funeral Home at 4201 Wellington St in Greenville, Texas at 11:00am on Monday, March 6th, 2023

Judith Ann Belcher lived from February 5, 1945 to February 21, 2023. Being the only girl out of the 7 children born to Oliver Weldon and Myrtle Alice (Satterfield) Hill explains her spunk and stubbornness. Her passing brings the Hill family line to a close.

Judith was known to most as Judy and either Nanny or Jude to her grand and great grandchildren.

Judy was a crazy mom, and a funny person overall. She freely shared exactly what was on her mind without a govern, which only intensified with age and made for some quite embarrassing memories.

She was always so full of life and emanated a sweet child-like quality. If you knew Nanny, chances are you were lucky enough to hear her sweet Nanny voice that could always put a smile on everyone’s face. Christmas and summer break were some of her favorite times of year because she knew that she’d get a weeklong stay from her grandkids. We don’t know who enjoyed it more, her or the grandkids. In the morning she would give them a splash of coffee with their cream so they could be just like her. Nanny would always plan something special for them to do like fishing or swimming and record a bunch of movies to watch together. Every evening she’d bless them with a home cooked meal of fish Papa Earl caught, the grandkid’s favorite steak, or whatever their heart’s desired. The night would be finished with episodes of I Love Lucy, Wings, or Nightcourt while her hair was brushed to such a fluff that she became their “little Whoopi Goldberg”. She had such a good sense of humor with being the grandkid’s barbie. Once, her nails were beautifully painted to the tips of her fingers, even though it surpassed her actual nails, and she was not angered by being out of polish remover to tidy them up.

Over the years, she had many health problems that we learned to live with, but after Ricky passed on January 8, 2023, she started to give up. It seemed as though she missed their bickering because complaining had become their norm. Although this past Thanksgiving, she was overjoyed to be in the company of her inquisitive greatgrandchildren. So much so that she continued to reminisce about it for the next two weeks. We hope it reminded her of the beautiful summer and Christmas memories surrounded by children. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. Rest well Mama.

She was preceded by her husbands Sammy James Gray and Earl Belcher, and her son Ricky James Gray. Judith is survived by her two daughters Deborah Puente and Kathleen Brazier; granddaughters, Tabitha Davidson, Melanie Truitt and husband Josh, Amber Gartside and husband Nick, Brittany Caldwell and husband Taylor; grandson, Gary Alan McInturff and partner Lindsay Thomas; great granddaughters, Chloe Davidson, Madison Truitt, Makayla Truitt, Harper McInturff, London Gartside, Isla Gray Gartside, Sydney Rose Gartside, Bella Marie Gartside; great grandsons, Cameron Davidson, Rowdy McInturff, Liam Truitt.
