Jimmy Dickens passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026 in Winnsboro, Texas, with his loved ones by his side. After a long season of a worn and tired body, Jimmy was ready to go home. Jimmy was born at home on August 1, 1958 to the late Glen and Donie Dickens. He spent most of his life between Mt. Vernon & Winnsboro, where he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and community.
On April 17, 1978, Jimmy married the love of his life, Anna Drake. Together, they shared a life centered on devotion to family, strong values, and unwavering love. Jimmy was dedicated to providing for his family and worked for several oil companies throughout his life, spending many years in the oilfields. He was known for his strong work ethic and pride in an honest day's work.
In his spare time, Jimmy loved being with his family. He had a deep love for music, fishing, hunting, animals, and the simple joys of life. It was not uncommon for "Papa" to come home with an unusual pet. Music filled his life--you could often hear him coming from a mile away.
Jimmy never met a stranger and showed kindness to everyone. He was the kind of Dad/Papa who would embarrass you with kisses before you left, always making sure you knew just how loved you were. His gentle spirit and generous heart will be forever remembered. His legacy of warmth and hospitality will continue to inspire those who knew him, reminding us all of the importance of love and compassion.
Preceded in death by his wife Anna Dickens: parents Glen and Donie Dickens; sister Linda Taylor; brothers Glen Roy, James, Charles, and Tater Dickens; grandson Jaxon Dickens. Survived by daughter Amanda Snow & husband Mike Davis; son Jeramie Dickens & wife Tanaya; daughter Marina Dickens; sister Brenda Crow & husband Brooksey; grandchildren Jagger & Jayde Dickens, Jaxon Poole, Karlee and Carson Davis, Kaiden Fry, and Julian Hearn; and many extended family members and friends.
We love you more than words can say & will carry you with us in everything we do. Your laughter, your music, your kindness, and your love will live on through all of us until we meet again.
