Jerry Lee Hawkins

Dec 13, 1949 — Aug 17, 2026

Quinlan, Texas

Jerry Lee Hawkins, age 76, of Quinlan, Texas, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, August 17, 2026, in Greenville. He was born on December 13, 1949, in Sebree, Kentucky, to Roy Lee Hawkins and Mary Francis (Roberts) Hawkins.

For fifty years, Jerry owned and operated a successful window cleaning company, taking on jobs that ranged from storefronts to skyscrapers. He continued working part-time throughout the years, enjoying the opportunity to stay active and remain connected to the community around him.

In his free time, Jerry enjoyed old Westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He spent time tending to his rose bushes and keeping his truck in immaculate condition. His children remember watching on as their dad washed his truck in the driveway, music playing as he danced along. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed country music, trips to the flea market, and rarely passed up an opportunity to visit and talk with those around him.

Some of the most meaningful moments of Jerry’s life came through his family. He became a father to five children through adoption, stood beside his son as best man at his wedding, and celebrated the arrival of each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jerry’s family and friends will carry with them the memory of his unmistakable sense of humor. He delighted in making his grandchildren laugh by pushing out his dentures and pretending his teeth had fallen out, or by letting them pull on his shortened finger while he acted as though they had managed to pull it right off. It was this playful nature and willingness to be silly that made time with him memorable.

Jerry is survived by his son, Ray Hawkins; daughters, Lisa Baker, Crystal Hawkins, Elizabeth Brickley, and Michelle Hawkins; brother, William Hawkins; sister, Shirley Wright; grandchildren, Timothy Baker, Matthew Baker, Jacob Baker, Madison Ivie, Skylor Wells, Rylan Hawkins, Grant Hawkins, and Violet Brickley; great-granddaughter, Mary Jane Baker; his beloved companion, Linda Shadley; nieces, Angel Perales, Dawn Wright, Shelly Lewis, Mary Hawkins, Karen Hawkins, Jennifer Findley, Marcie Armes, Jennie Mullins, and Jackie Briscoe; nephews, Steven Wright, Shane Wright, Jason Hawkins, Richard Hawkins, Jamie Hawkins, and David Hawkins; and many other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Francis Roberts; father, Roy Lee Hawkins; brothers, Darrell Hawkins, Raymond Hawkins, and James Poe; sister, Patsy Wharton; niece, Tracy Hawkins; and nephews, James Poe II and John Hawkins.
