James Eugene Jackson, Jr., born on March 8, 1940, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, brother-in-law, grandfather, friend, USMC, Shriner, and he was devoted to his church and church family.
Jimmy was born in Bowie, Texas. He grew up in Combine, Texas. He grew up with a large, loving family. He met his future wife, Patricia Fowler, in 1958. He was soon off to join the United States Marine Corp. He was stationed in San Diego, California. He served his country proudly.
Jimmy was a hard worker and started preparing and saving for his future family even before he married Patricia. James and Patricia were married on April 17, 1964. They moved to Mesquite, Texas where they would raise their children. Jimmy always humbly put his family first.
His career as a truck driver started at Safeway, where he made lifelong friends. He always had a construction job going on the side. He passed all this knowledge and skills onto his son, John Jackson. In 1983 Jimmy and Patricia moved their family to Royce City for a better life in the country. Jimmy retired from driving in 1999. He never stopped working. He continued construction jobs, including their own home, church, and multiple other projects. He loved gardening and producing and cutting hay on their two properties. Jimmy had pure joy when fishing in his tanks.
Jimmy and Patricia did everything together from traveling in their motor home to riding their Gold Wing Trike all over the country.
Jimmy joined the Masons and Shriners and continued his service throughout his life with pride.
Jimmy was self-taught. Everything he learned and did was with pure grit and determination. He never gave up. He never complained. Always learning and always providing. He was a friend to everyone. He was a leader and never knew it. People gravitated to his kind heart, strength and knowledge. As well as to his humor.
We have been blessed to have one of the best husbands and dads ever made. He will be missed and remember by all that were blessed to have known him. His legacy will live and continue in us all.
Funeral service for Jimmy will be held at Union Valley Church of Christ in Royse City, Texas on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 11:00 am. Visitation will take place one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
