J D Chaney, 90, of Cumby, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in Wills Point, Texas. J D was born September 13, 1925 to Arthur and Thelma Chaney in Roby, Texas. J D served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force during World War II. J D married Miss Lona Stewart on February 28, 1947 in Mexia, Texas. J D worked in education as a school administrator for various school districts for over thirty-seven years before retiring from Arp School District. J D was a true follower of Jesus Christ. He loved to tell others of his Savior's love and care. J D also had a true servant's heart. He loved doing for others. But his greatest joy was his family. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted Aggie and always was giving the "Gig'em Thumbs Up Sign." His infectious smile and generous spirit will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. J D is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Thelma Chaney; Lona Chaney, his beloved wife of fifty-seven years; brother, James Phillips; sister, Louise Hoffman. Those left to celebrate his memory include his son, Jack Dennis Chaney (Kaylen); daughters, Pam Fite, Karen Little (John Paul), Nancy Johns; grandchildren, David Chaney (Amanda), Jason Chaney (Kim), Jamie Bird (Shaae), Jared Fite (Elizabeth), Jillian Heathcock (Wayne), Cody Patterson (Jerri), Ashley Butler (J P), Jesse Johns (Meg) and Callister Johns (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Jeremy, Jacob, Parker, Payton, Jenna, Jaiden, Chevy, Jarrett, Rylie and Brazos; sisters, Juanita Haynes, Billie Elsner (Walter); as well as numerous extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Quinlan Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held the following day, Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Pattison Cemetery in Emhouse, Texas.
