Harbert Lee Hawkins

Harbert Lee “Jimmy” Hawkins, resident of Quinlan, Texas, passed on June 2, 2025 at his home. Jimmy is survived by his wife Leona Hawkins; children, Kelly Hawkins, Janice Norris, Todd Walls, Steven Jones, Samantha Burt, and Brittany Taylor; grandchildren, Stefanie Harmon, Mike Daniel, Haylee Hawkins, Cody Walls, Payden Koopmann, and Eloise Burt; siblings, Norma Johnston and Carol Ashley.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Helen Warren and Harbert Lee Hawkins; child, Shelly Hawkins; sibling, Larry McAdams.

Jimmy was born on April 4, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to Harbert and Mary Hawkins. He obtained his GED and worked in the auto paint and body industry for 30+ years. In his "retired" years he worked in hot shot and wrecker services.

He married Leona Faye Foster on February 4, 1975 in Mesquite, Texas. They moved to Quinlan in 1991 to enjoy their “retirement”.

In his free time Jim enjoyed fishing, drinking a beer at the lake and being the quiet host of family BBQs. He was known to bring home the occasional stray dog or abandoned bunny he found while mowing. He could ONLY be found on his riding mower during the spring and summer.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A special thank you to his care team at Gentiva Hospice for providing such tender care to Jimmy, his wife and family.
