Gene Douglas Lyon

Gene Douglas Lyon, 94, of Quinlan, Texas, passed away in Greenville, Texas, on June 19, 2026. He was a proud Army veteran, a dedicated salesman, multi-generational father figure, and a longtime resident of Del City, Oklahoma.

Gene was born on November 20, 1931, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Isabella Lyon (née Leamon) and Roy Lyon. After graduating from Mangum High School in 1949, he attended Oklahoma State University before serving his country as an Army corporal from 1953 to 1955. Gene then dedicated 32 years to Homelite, traveling the nation as an award-winning salesman and eventually retiring as the regional sales manager.

Gene lived a beautiful life filled with love, family, and unique experiences. Over his 94 years, his travels took him across the country, but his greatest joy remained the family that surrounded him. Having seen things few others ever will, he leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived and a family well loved. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Isabella and Roy Lyon; his siblings, Eunice Fay Murren (née Lyon), Roy Lyon Jr., and James Lyon; and his daughters, Caren Winn and Denise Murchison.

He is survived by his grandsons, Jerrod Murchison, Zachary Murchison, and Corey Sheltman; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at his great-granddaughter's home in Garland, Texas, with his grandson, Zachary Murchison, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gene's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charitable organization of your choice.
