Florence Elam

Florence Diane Elam, 76, of Quinlan passed away on November 4, 2011, in the peace of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 27, 1935, in Sinclairville, NY, the daughter of William Luther and Harriet (Burnham) Bumpus. She married Harold Elam, Sr. on October 1, 1954, in Searcy, AK. She had worked as a chef many years before her retiring. She was a member of CrossPoint Church in Quinlan. Her family members that are remembering her life are her children, Harold Elam, Jr. of Quinlan, Terry Elam of Quinlan, Harriet Margaret Hays and Bob Lyles of Alvarado, Hope Iris Watkins and Eddy Watkins, Holly Jean Vassar and husband Allen of Quinlan; her grandchildren, Brandie Black, Bo Elam and wife Maranda, Charles Hays and wife Megan, Ashley Hays Porter and husband Cody, Falcon Elam and wife Alexandra, Linda Vassar Young and husband Michael, Casey Watkins, and Elizabeth Watkins; her great grandchildren, Corey Black, Logan Rost, Ethan Rost, Scout Porter, Jaina Porter, Cadence Porter, Tommy Elam, Tamara Elam, Jacob Elam, and Corey Hays; special niece, Phyllis Bumpus, other relatives and friends. Diane is also preceded in her death by her husband; her parents; daughter, Susan Diane Elam; brother, William L. Bumpus; and great grandson, Cody Black. Funeral service is planned for Wednesday, November 9, 2011. at Quinlan Funeral Home, 11:00 am, with Pastor David Hammond officiating. Her burial will follow the service in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. Visitation with the family is planned for Tuesday night, November 8, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
