Fern Colbert

Fern Colbert, 100, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Royse City. Fern was born on June 11, 1915 to Sam and Eunice McCarter in Omaha, Texas. She would meet and later marry Horace Colbert. Fern was regular fixture around Commerce and Greenville, working at the Dairy Queen for many years. Fern is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Eunice McCarter; husband, Horace Colbert; brothers, Bryce, Jim and Richard; sisters, Annie, Dean, Katie and Pearline; son, Charles Colbert and grandson, Charles McIlveene, Jr. She is survived by her son Wes Colbert; daughter, Margie Frazier; grandchildren, Jenise Huggett and her husband Robert, Cindy McIlveene and her husband Rusty, Kim Hook and her husband Tony, David Colbert and his wife Rochelle, Raymond Colbert, Kennith Colbert, Ted Colbert and his wife Catherine, Kara Colbert, Terry Colbert, Mike Colbert and his wife Kelly, Wally Colbert and his wife Shannon; twelve great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; numerous extended family, friends and neighbors. Fern will be laid to rest on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at a graveside service at Simmons Cemetery.
