Elizabeth “Granny” Owens, 86, of Kilgore passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Longview. Elizabeth was born on April 1, 1932 in Shreveport, LA, the daughter of Earl and Alberta (Gallagher) Fox. She married Don V. Owens, Jr. in May 1949 and he preceded her in death on August 2, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Alberta Fox; son, Norman Owens; grandson, Steven Owens; and a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Owens.
Elizabeth’s family members who are cherishing the memories of her life are her seven sons, Don Owens, III (Susan), Mark Owens (Marjie), Tony Owens (Karen), Eric High (Shelley), Mark Allen High, Don High, and Robert High; daughter, Shelia High; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nelda McMullen.
Visitation and viewing will be held at Quinlan Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Quinlan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Owens, III. and Pastor Randy McFeeley officiating. Her interment will follow the service in the Ables Springs Cemetery.
