Elbert Manley Gauntt, 79, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Quinlan, Texas. Elbert was born on April 16, 1934 to Aubrey and Daffie Lee Gauntt in Greenville, Texas. Elbert served his country in the United States Army. He would meet and later marry Alta Reagan in El Paso, Texas in 1954. To this union were born two children, Gary and Diann. Elbert would continue his service to his fellow man by serving in and retiring from the University Park Fire Department. He loved ranching and the outdoors; but his greatest passion was his family. Elbert loved to spend time with his wife, children and their families; as well as his many friends and neighbors. He will truly be missed. Elbert is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Daffie Lee Gauntt. Those left to celebrate his life include Alta Gauntt, his wife of 59 years; his son Gary Gauntt; daughter Diann Swartz and her husband Randy; grandchildren, Laura Perkins and her husband Mitch, Aaron Gauntt, Ryan Swartz, Luke Swartz, Meagan Mitchell and her husband Joey; great-grandchildren, Kenleigh Perkins, Khloe Perkins, Carson Mitchell, Mixie Mitchell, sisters; Lequita Money and Jaunda Hensley; as well numerous nephews, nieces and extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.
