Funeral service for David Michael Hammond, age 69, of Quinlan will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Park Street Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas with Jim Gatliff officiating and Tony Brown assisting. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Cemetery with pallbearers Michael Sandifer, Luke Sandifer, James Sandifer, Corey Hammond, Earnest Crawford, Siegen LaFleur, Michael Jackson and Jesse Seigler. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Gaston Hammond, Daniel Sandifer, Cornelius Ailinca, Steve Pollard and Lyle Turner. Visitation will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Quinlan on Thursday, April 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
David Michael was born on October 28, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to Rev. Gaston and Willie Mae (Cooley) Hammond. He married Cynthia Spruill in Garland, Texas on August 10, 1974. David was a pastor in Quinlan for over 30 years. He was pastor of Cross Point Family Church. He was known as Dad to many and Big Guy to his grandchildren, biological and chosen. David passed at his home in Quinlan on April 12, 2021.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; daughter, Cyndia Hammond of Texarkana; son, Craig Hammond and wife, Amy of Quinlan; grandchildren, Gaston and Lyla Hammond; brothers, Robert “Eddie” Hammond and wife, Ann, Jerry Hammond; sister, Julia “Judy” Sandifer and husband, Carroll Wayne; numerous nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Mary Louise Hammond; brother, Geary Hammond; parents-in-law, Clyde and Pearl Spruill.
