Curtis Garland Crowder, born on August 16, 1931, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. He was a dedicated ranch hand and later worked in warehouse positions before retiring. Curtis lived a full life marked by hard work, family, and simple joys.
Curtis graduated from Crystoval High School in West Texas. After graduation, he served his country honorably in the Army from August 30, 1951, to August 29, 1953. During his service, he was stationed in Missouri, Arizona, and California. Following his military service, Curtis continued to build his life with commitment and care.
On November 30, 1956, Curtis married Carolyn at Hightower Church in Odessa, Texas. Carolyn was his wife and lifelong companion. Together, they shared many years filled with love and family. Curtis cherished having many dogs throughout the years, reflecting his kind and gentle nature.
Curtis was a beloved father to Sherre and Margaret, and he also had a son named David who has passed away. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. The family he loved and cared for extended to grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Crowder; his brother Kenneth Crowder; his daughters Sherre Crowder and Margaret Crowder; as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Curtis was preceded in death by his father, William David Crowder, and mother, Myrtle Mae Crowder. He was also preceded by his brothers Edward, William Audrey, and J.D., his sister Oleta, his son David, and great granddaughter Kora.
Visitation for Curtis Garland Crowder will be held on April 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Quinlan Funeral Home located at 8930 TX-34, Quinlan, Texas, 75474. A graveside service will follow on April 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Goldthwaite Cemetery, 110 TX-16, Goldthwaite, Texas, 76844.
Curtis’s life was one of steady work, family devotion, and quiet joys. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him.
