Clifford, AKA “Spiffy”, passed away on June 2, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love. He was a man who lived life on his own terms—strong-willed, stubborn when he thought he was right, and never one to back down from a challenge. Those who knew him best understood that his determination was simply part of what made him who he was.

He met his wife, Dodie, of 49 years working as a bouncer at the Electric Circus. Together they enjoyed the outdoors, their bowling leagues, and a nice dinner out. They raised two beautiful daughters, and he treasured the years he spent coaching them in softball, encouraging them from the dugout, and sharing in their love of the game.

His grandchildren were the center of his world. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on at their school events, sporting games, and activities. He was their biggest fan, always showing up with pride and enthusiasm. Some of their favorite memories will be of days spent at the lake, riding 4-wheelers, bowling, coaching from the sidelines at their ball games, and trips to the doughnut shop.

He found his greatest joy outdoors, whether it be tackling the muddy trails on his 4-wheeler or at the lake he loved so much. Lake life wasn’t just where he lived—it was where he thrived. Whether he was fishing, water skiing, slinging the kids around on the inner tube, or floating in the water with a cold one, he was happiest surrounded by family, friends, and the outdoors.

Dodie and Clifford moved to their forever home on Lake Tawakoni in 2019, to the same cove where Spiffy learned to water ski. He never met a neighbor he couldn’t tease and especially enjoyed giving them a hard time about the Dallas Cowboys. His playful banter became one of the many things people looked forward to. His sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make people laugh left a lasting impression on everyone around him.

Family meant everything to him, and he always looked forward to the reunions. Whether it was a weekend getaway or a full vacation, family trips almost always included his nephews, who were as much a part of the adventure as anyone else. He treasured those times together, creating stories and memories that will be shared for generations.

Clifford was born on June 14, 1945, in San Angelo, TX, to Lorena and JB Orrill. He graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in Dallas, TX, and worked for Winston Water Cooler.

Clifford is survived by his beloved wife, Dodie Orrill; his daughter, Cari Wade and husband Justin, and their sons Colton (18) and Cash (13); his daughter, Melanie Smith and husband Chad, and their daughters Brooke (23) and Brystal (17); his sister, Sharron Cherry; his brother, Larry Orrill and wife Beckie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, JB Orrill; his mother, Lorena Orrill; his brother-in-law, Thomas Cherry; and great nephew, Chase Cherry.

He will be remembered for his love of the lake, his passion for fishing and riding 4-wheelers, his unwavering support of his grandchildren, his playful teasing, and his deep devotion to family. More than anything, he will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him and the countless memories he helped create.

Though his chair may now sit empty and the lake may seem a little quieter, his spirit lives on in every fishing trip, every family gathering, every ball game, and every laugh shared among those who loved him. The memories he gave us are a gift that will last forever.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in our hearts.
