Services for Charlotte Reaves, 86, former Quinlan resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at Quinlan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial services will follow at. Ms. Reaves died Saturday, Dec. 3 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Henderson, TX. She was born June 1, 1925 in Marlin, Texas, to the late Ruben Heflin and Alice Butler Heflin. Charlotte married Claud Halton Reaves on March 21, 1946, in Marlin, Texas. She was a strong and independent woman who, in service to her country, trained to fly cargo planes during World War II. After the untimely death of her husband in 1970, Charlotte earned her Bachelors and Masters of Education degree from Texas A&M at Commerce, formerly East Texas State, and taught fifth grade in Quinlan ISD for a number of years. Charlotte loved to read and was a big fan of Dallas area professional sports teams. Most of all, Charlotte loved family get-togethers, strong black coffee and pecan pie. She cared deeply for and found great joy in her large and loving family. Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband Claud and daughter Carey Colleen Reeves. Survivors include her sister Deloras Hendrick, San Antonio; daughters Claudia Toye, Ft. Lauderhill, FL; Cathy Reaves, Dallas; son and daughter-in-law Lee and Kathy Reaves, Wolfe City; daughter and son-in-law Chrystal and Kenneth Sabella, Henderson, TX; son-in-law James Reeves, Combine, TX; nephew Jim Hay, San Antonio; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Mary and Bradford Ballard, Ft Lauderdale, FL.; granddaughter Jennifer Brunjes, Brooklyn, NY; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Kenneth II and Elizabeth Sabella, Henderson, TX; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Brodie and Kaysie Sabella, Ft. Worth; granddaughters Emily and Sara Reeves; Kaitlan Sabella, Katy and Rebekah Reaves; great-grand children Bradford and Lauren Ballard; and Kate and Kenneth Sabella III.
