Bill Eugene Smith departed this life for his Heavenly Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 8, 2010. He was born in Caddo, Oklahoma and grew up in Bryan County, Oklahoma. He was raised on a ranch by his grandmother and his Aunt Mary. After graduation from Russell High School in Durant, Bill joined the U.S. Navy, and served in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion, as well as a member of the Disabled Veterans of America. He served as Chaplain and Service Officer of the Quinlan VFW, and also enjoyed serving as an active member of the Hunt County Honor Guard. Bill is survived by his wife, Margie Lee Smith, by his son and daughter Larry Dean Smith and Donna G. Smith, grandsons Ryan Smith and Ricky Rowe and wife Jodie, and by two great grandsons. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Diane Carr and her family. He was preceded in death by his son, David Smith, who was killed by a drunk driver when he was three, and by his grandmother and Aunt Mary. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 13 at the First United Methodist Church, located at 503 West College in Terrell, Texas.
